I understand that many of my constituents are concerned about safety along the A1. I welcomed the recent opportunity to discuss how we can improve the section of the road between Gonerby Moor and Claypole in particular with County Councillor Cllr Alexander Maughan, who I have been working together with to press for improvements from National Highways.
While I welcome short term safety improvements to the A1 in our area, such as additional signage and road markings, I am particularly concerned about the A1/Toll Bar Road junction at Marston, which requires changes to the crossing and slip road.
I have raised my particular concerns regarding this crossing in a meeting I had recently with Baroness Vere, Minister for Roads, and fellow A1 MPs. I will continue to work with local councillors and fellow MPs on this vital issue and raise the importance of A1 improvements with the Government.
