I joined Marc Willis, Planning Applications Manager (left), and Andy Gutherson, the Executive Director of Place (right), from Lincolnshire County Council at the proposed site for a quarry in Sudbrook to highlight my objections to the planning application from Tamar Selby Group.
Local residents have been in touch to raise their concerns about the severe impact a quarry would have in the area, including health risks related to both noise and dust that I’m concerned have not been properly addressed. I’m also concerned about the safety of the children walking to the bus stop along the road, which is so narrow it does not have a footpath and two cars cannot pass by one another without one going onto the verge.
The infrastructure is simply not in place to support so many movements from lorries. While the meeting was positive and welcome, it is clear to me that the site is simply not suitable for what is proposed. I will continue to press the need for all the associated risks to be properly investigated, and for the impact on residents to be taken fully into account prior to any decision making on the necessary ‘reasonable planning conditions’.
