This week I was proud to launch the report into end of life care choice published by the APPG for Children Who Need Palliative Care, of which I am co-Chair.
As a children's doctor, I know that young people with life-limiting conditions and their families can struggle to access the care and support they need, particularly respite and out-of-hours community care. During our inquiry's evidence sessions, we heard from some incredibly brave young people about their experiences, as well as receiving expert evidence from health professionals and others.
This report makes some recommendations that I believe will do a great deal to help, and I look forward to working with the Government on this going forward. I was encouraged by the Prime Minister's response when I raised the report in today's PMQs, and by the responsible health minister's engagement with our APPG.
I am hugely grateful to the charity Together for Short Lives, who provide excellent support and advice to us.
