I met with the Home Secretary, Priti Patel, to highlight the excellent work of Lincolnshire Police and detail some of the specific challenges they face in covering such a wide geographical area - some 2,284 square miles - with many isolated rural places which are too often targeted by criminals.
I strongly welcome the news that the Home Secretary has commissioned a team to review these challenges in Lincolnshire specifically to help support police across the county deal with rural crime.
Funding being provided by this Conservative Government will allow for the recruitment of 20,000 new police officers. I welcome the fact that 50 new officers have already been allocated to be recruited in Lincolnshire for this year. I also pressed the need for Lincolnshire to receive a fair share of the next round of allocation as well, when the remaining 14,000 police officers will be recruited nationally.
