I welcome that the constituency of Sleaford and North Hykeham has received £5,356,000 in investment since 2015 to help protect against flooding as part of the Government’s investment of a £2.6 billion package nationwide. Many local projects have been funded recently including:
Swaton Flood Resilience Scheme
Digby Surface Water Scheme
Lower Witham Flood Resilience Project
Billinghay Pumping Station Refurbishment
Flooding can be incredibly devastating for homes and businesses locally so I welcome this support in strengthening our flood defences in the constituency.
The impact waterlogged fields can have on agricultural land is damaging for farmers and food production so I welcome over 580,000 acres of agricultural land being protected across the country. I continue to highlight with Government the importance of protecting my constituents from flooding.
There is still more to do so I am pleased that the Government’s Flood and Coastal Erosion Investment Plan outlines how a record £5.2 billion of investment over the next six years will be spent, including boosting the design and construction of flooding alleviation schemes.
