This week I took part in a debate about making our country the best place to grow up and grow old. I believe that this country is a great place to live, although that does not mean there is not work to do to make it even better, and I look forward to supporting the Queen’s Speech in that regard. As we begin a new parliamentary term, I am:
pressing the Government to ensure additional NHS investment improves clinical care and delivery to reduce backlogs
welcoming funds for our local schools through the Condition Improvement Fund, including Carre’s Grammar School in Sleaford which is receiving over £1 million
supporting calls for more medical and nursing students, as well as a relative increase in remuneration for nurses providing direct clinical care to incentivise this work
pressing for curriculum measures to improve sport, particularly for girls, which is crucial for physical development
asking Ministers to consider safeguarding approaches that protect children and do not just add to additional bureaucracy
