Last week I visited local farmer, Robin Battle, in Potterhanworth to talk about the future of agriculture in Lincolnshire.
We spoke about the forthcoming Agriculture Bill, which I am scrutinising as part of my work with the Environment, Food & Rural Affairs Select Committee, and support for farmers after we leave the EU.
It was great to see how much work Robin does to look after the environment, through various stewardship schemes. Our farmers are often the most enthusiastic custodians of our natural environment, preserving wildlife habitats and conserving valuable plant, animal, bird, and insect species. The best farming works in harmony with the natural world, and farmers like Robin make a valuable contribution.
