The Government have announced that they will be investing an additional £8.9 million to urgently give more people access to high quality dental care in the Midlands.
I have been continuing to press the Government for further support for our NHS dental services in Lincolnshire, and I am delighted that they are making this funding boost available to help residents requiring urgent care get the help they need. I understand that children will be prioritised, as will people with learning disabilities, autism, or severe mental health problems. I have also spoken to the Minister for Defence People and Veterans to ask what is being done to provide particular support to families of service personnel.
I have also received further confirmation from the Minister that the Government are working with partners, including the British Dental Association, to look at alternative ways of commissioning and to improve dental education and training. I have been continuing my discussions with Ministers and universities about my proposal for a Lincolnshire dental school and look forward to discussing this with Health Education England in more detail soon.
