The rollout of the Covid Vaccination Programme of both Oxford University/AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines is hugely vital to our national effort to both protect those most vulnerable from COVID-19 and get life back to normal for everyone. I'm proud to be playing my part in getting jabs into arms as an NHS Doctor.
This is the largest vaccination programme in our nation's history and it's a mammoth effort from local, regional and national stakeholders to get all of the doses manufactured, checked, delivered and into people’s arms as fast as possible.
The programme is moving at pace in Lincolnshire. Vaccination began locally on December 8th with priority groups 1-4 (Which cover those aged over 70, Frontline health and care workers and those who are clinically extremely vulnerable) with a plan to offer vaccines to everyone in these groups by mid February.
Local centres now include:
Hospital Hubs:
• Lincoln County Hospital
• Pilgrim Hospital, Boston
Other vaccination centres:
• Louth Community Hospital
• Meres Leisure Centre, Grantham
• Waddington Branch Surgery
• St Marys Medical Practice, Stamford
• Franklin Hall, Spilsby
• Sidings Medical Practice, Boston
• Rustons Sports and Social Club, Lincoln
• Portland Medical Practice, Lincoln
• The Storehouse, Skegness
• Lincolnshire Showground, Lincoln
• Springfields, Spalding
• John Coupland Hospital, Gainsborough
• Marisco Medical Practice, Mablethorpe
More centres will follow.
I was delighted to visit the North Hykeham vaccination centre on Saturday. It was running smoothly with everything carefully thought through to ensure the safety of those coming for vaccination. Elderly residents were delighted to be receiving the vaccine and feedback about the process was excellent.
For those not able to come to a centre there are teams delivering vaccines to residents directly. For example Holdingham Grange Care Home where the residents and staff were offered vaccines last weekend.
If you’re a local resident and fall into groups one to four and have not yet had your vaccine - don’t worry, you will be contacted shortly.
