Conservative candidate for Sleaford and North Hykeham, Dr Caroline Johnson, has met with the Secretary of State for Transport, Chris Grayling MP, in Great Gonerby to discuss further investment in local roads.
As a doctor, Caroline has commuted from her home in Sudbrook to hospitals across the region and seen first-hand how congestion has affected the area.
As part of her plan to deliver a brighter future for Sleaford and North Hykeham, Dr Johnson wants the completion of the ring road round around Lincoln and upgrades to the A15 and A17.
The discussions took place following the Autumn Statement on Wednesday which announced £1.1 billion more for local transport networks, including £220 million to address pinch points on strategic roads.
Dr Caroline Johnson said:
“It was good to meet the Transport Secretary to discuss investing in tackling congestion and busy roads in our local communities.
“It is essential that we complete the ring road round around Lincoln and upgrades to the A15 and A17. As doctor who has worked all over the local area I know first-hand how congested our roads can get.
“If elected Member of Parliament for Sleaford and North Hykeham I will continue to lobby the Government for the investment we deserve in Lincolnshire - both for roads and elsewhere.”
Transport Secretary Chris Grayling MP said:
“Caroline made it clear to me that congestion is a very big issue in Lincolnshire and I listened seriously to what she had to say.
“The Government is committed to investing in our road infrastructure. The Autumn Statement pledged £1.1billion more in local transport networks, with a big slice to go towards fixing pinch points.
“It is clear to me that Caroline would be a local champion for communities in Sleaford and North Hykeham and I agreed to meet her again for further talks on tackling congestion if she is elected Member of Parliament.”
