I visited local family-owned business A&P Travel to have a discussion with Director Paul Cartwright about the challenges facing coach companies while the pandemic is ongoing, and to see all of the great innovations they have installed to make coach travel as safe and comfortable as possible for their customers. This includes spacing being maintained between passengers, the installation of air purifying systems, the use of fogging machines to sanitise the vehicles after journeys and the use of non-contact thermometers for spot checks.
I know that the Department for Transport is working with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to try and open up tourism wherever possible, but it's good to see that coach companies are also being innovative and making it as safe as possible for their customers. We have some excellent excursion companies locally and I will continue to press my Ministerial colleagues to support them as much as possible through this difficult time for the industry.
