As part of our ongoing inquiry into the use of plastic in food and drink packaging, the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee met with a group of small businesses who are developing alternatives.
We saw ingenious ways to avoid the use of plastic, including beeswax food wrap, compostable packaging, and seaweed-based sachets.
I am so glad to see that plastic alternatives are making their way onto our shelves, but we must do all we can to make sure this is encouraged - for the sake of our environment.
