Yesterday evening I met with Nick Hurd MP, the Policing Minister, to press again for more funding for our excellent police force in Lincolnshire.
Our Police and Crime Commissioner, Marc Jones, has briefed me regularly on the problems facing our police, particularly given the rural nature of our area.
I went through the numbers with the Minister, and he confirmed that the Home Office would work with Marc and Lincolnshire Police to address these issues. He acknowledges that our county has a lower then average ratio of police officers to population, and that this would mean more money once the fairer funding formula comes into use next year.
I know how hard our police officers work to keep us safe, and I will continue to work closely with Marc and my fellow Lincolnshire MPs to push for more funding.
