Residents of the beautiful village of Doddington are very concerned about traffic along the B1190 through the village, particularly increasing numbers of HGVs.
I have been working with Doddington & Whisby Parish Council and the local county councillor, Mike Thompson, to look at ways to improve safety and quality of life for those living in the village, including instituting a weight restriction on that section of the road.
The problem we face is that the erection of signage for a weight restriction would apparently be very expensive for our council, due to Highways England asking for a huge amount of money to place the signs on their infrastructure where the B1190 meets the A46.
I met this week with the Roads Minister, Jesse Norman MP, to explain the situation and ask him to intervene. He will shortly be meeting with the Chief Executive of Highways England to push for this to be resolved without such a large outlay for our council. I hope that we will be able to get this project moving soon.
