I am pleased to have supported the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill as it has made its way through the Commons. This landmark piece of legislation is overhauling our justice system so our police and courts have the resources to cut crime and keep our communities safe.
This Bill ensures that protests that cause serious disruption to essential services and block our roads are not affecting the everyday lives of the public. This Bill enables the police to balance the vital rights of protesters and their freedom of expression against the rights of others to go about their daily business, and to dedicate police resources to keeping the public safe.
