I am concerned that the future of the North Hykeham Relief Road project hangs in the balance under the Government’s transport capital spend review.
In response to my letter to the Secretary of State for Transport last month where I voiced the necessity of the project for our community, I have today received the below letter from the Minister for the Future of Roads which gives no confirmation that the construction of the road will proceed nor in fact a date by which the review will be completed.
Since 2019, significant work has been underway to building this road including Lincolnshire County Council undertaking the planning, consultation, acquisition and tendering processes. I urge the government to provide assurance that the project can proceed to construction as soon as possible as the allocation has been committed to in the government accounts for some time and this infrastructure has long been promised to the local community.
