Thank you to Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust for the recent opportunity to attend the opening of the two new £25million mental health wards at Lincoln County Hospital.
I was pleased to take a look around the new wards which together offer 38 ensuite bedrooms with state of the art technology, multi-purpose community areas and relaxing outside spaces for people staying on the wards and their families. Installations in the rooms include multi-purpose touch screens in the wall which provide information on their care plan, ward information including menus and also entertainment such as chess.
I also had the pleasure of meeting a group of students who have been highlighting the powerful connection between art and wellness. They have created a beautiful piece of artwork in the courtyard which provides a talking point and therapy for patients and their families when using the services.
Constituents contact me about mental health services so it was good to see this improvement and speak to staff about how it will help to support people in Lincolnshire when they need it most.
