The King's Speech was delivered in Parliament this week where the new Government has set out its priorities for legislation to go before the House.
As an MP representing a rural constituency, I am disappointed that there is nothing for British farmers and food producers within the speech. In fact, when searching for the word 'farm' in the 104 page document published by the Government, the only result which appears in the search box is their plan to scrap the ban on onshore windfarms.
This follows the announcement in their first week that they will get rid of farmland by approving planning for vast solar parks, including two applications in Lincolnshire.
We must back our British farmers and Lincolnshire's important role in contributing to our nation's food security. I will continue to stand up for our rural communities and scrutinise the Government in this regard.
