I recently met with Cllr Scott and Ewerby and Evedon Parish Council to discuss their concerns about the Beacon Fen North Solar Park proposals and to see the site. Beacon Fen North is a large-scale solar farm proposal covering around 1,300 acres of land in the Ewerby and Howell area, east of Sleaford.
Members of the community are very concerned about the visual impact and loss of productive land should this large solar park proposal go ahead. I know that many constituents are concerned about the size of the proposed site, and others like it in the constituency, as well as the loss of agricultural land.
Through my Westminster Hall Debate, and in questions and correspondence in Parliament, I am continuing to advocate against these large solar parks on productive land and instead highlight the importance of brownfield sites and rooftop solar. I will continue to keep residents updated with my work on this important matter which is currently affecting large areas of my rural constituency.
