It was great to pop in to visit local constituent, Jonathan, who has established two National Plant Collections (Hollyhocks and Cosmos Bipinnatus) in our area.
There are over 650 National Plant Collections across the country containing over 95,000 garden plants. They are cared for in botanic gardens, zoos, nurseries, private gardens and even Buckingham Palace!
Jonathan has worked hard to establish these beautiful collections from scratch on his plot, and his plants are part of the registered conservation scheme to ensure that they will be a resource for generations to come. Plant Heritage have also launched their new metal plaque as can be seen here to highlight the collections and their importance in protecting plants from extinction.
