The windmill is open for visitors Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout the year, and additionally Thursday - Monday inclusive during the school summer holidays. Full details are on our website www.heckingtonwindmill.org.uk
Children are able to visit the windmill, climb up the tower and view the inner workings of the mill. We have a great mouse hunt for children on the different floors of the mill which helps to keep them entertained whilst parents look around! Everyone gets a free sticker and certificate for counting the mice. We also have lots of hands-on activities in the visitor centre for them to explore, including weighing flour bags, building a windmill and dressing up in Victorian costume. The Miller’s House Tea Rooms are child friendly with high chairs and a children’s lunch option; plus activity colouring, books and toys. On site we have a lovely tea garden with climbing frame and our site is dog and bicycle friendly. As we are next to Heckington railway station, it’s a great day out by train too!
Throughout the year we have events on site including a Harvest Family Day on Sunday 25th September, Halloween Weekend 29th & 30th October and visit to Father Christmas on 3rd & 4th December.
