In the House of Commons this morning, I raised my constituents' concerns about the proposals for Anglian Water to build a new reservoir in the area south of Sleaford that would severely affect the communities of Scredington, Helpringham, Burton, Spanby and Swaton.
Many people are understandably distressed about what these proposals, should they go ahead, mean for their homes and livelihoods.
I have been continuing to work closely on this issue. I recently met with a group of concerned residents, and I understand their need for clear communication and clarification on these proposals from Anglian Water. After this meeting, I have conducted further meetings with Anglian Water and the previous relevant minster on this matter to highlight the impact that the proposed location of this reservoir and the proposed timescale for construction would have on my constituents.
I am pleased that Minister Pow has agreed to meet with me further and I will ensure to keep local residents updated on these meetings. I would also encourage those affected to engage fully in the public consultation that is currently under way.
