I recently welcomed the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Steve Barclay MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Robbie Moore MP and Alan Lovell, Chairman of the EA, to my constituency to meet with flood-hit farmers, residents and local councillors to discuss the consequences the repeated flooding has had on farmland and homes. I also arranged for them to visit a local school, Heighington Millfield Primary Academy, to see first-hand the internal damage caused by the recent storms.
Flooding is a major concern for farmers, landowners and constituents in Sleaford and North Hykeham. It is crucial that flood prevention methods are put in place and continuously managed in our area to reduce the impact of further flooding.
I am pleased that the Government has recently announced payments for communities impacted by Storm Henk to help them recover. Support will be available through councils who will announce further details on eligibility and how to apply.
